In collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives, Molteni&C has reconstructed the D.150.5 chaise longue designed by Gio Ponti for the Andrea Doria cruise ship in 1952. This unique piece of furniture pays homage to Ponti’s creative ability to transform unconventional spaces into exceptional environments. The chaise longue stands out for its continuous line design and elongated profile that unites backrests, seats, and armrests in a single stroke. Furthermore, the angle radius between the seat and backrest remains faithful to Ponti’s manufacturing notes. Crafted from solid teak, this piece represents the high quality of cabinetmaking, reflecting the aesthetics and functionality of modern design. Gio Ponti is recognized as one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Italian architecture and design.
