In 1935, for the first Palazzo Montecatini in Largo Donegani, Milan, Gio Ponti designed not only the architecture but also all the furniture, including desks, lamps, cabinets, and the iconic Montecatini chair. This piece, conceived with a functional and elegant aesthetic, reflects the designer’s innovative vision. In 2012, with the approval of Ponti’s heirs, Molteni&C presented a re-edition within the Gio Ponti Collection: the Montecatini D.235.1 chair, entirely reinterpreted in aluminum. This version maintains the original spirit, fusing lightness, strength, and a timeless design that remains relevant in contemporary spaces.
