The D.154.2 armchair by Gio Ponti represents the culmination of his architectural brilliance and design. Created for Villa Planchart in Caracas between 1953 and 1957, its enveloping form has been reinterpreted by Molteni&C in 2015, maintaining its original essence. This re-edition stands out for its robust design, composed of rigid and soft polyurethane, upholstered in high-quality textiles. In 2023, an outdoor version with resistant materials was introduced, and in 2024, D.154.2 received the prestigious Compasso d’Oro Lifetime Achievement Award for products. To commemorate this accolade, Molteni&C donated two special editions in the original 1950s colors to the Planchart Foundation and ADI. Gio Ponti is recognized as a master of Italian architecture, and his legacy endures through iconic works and distinctive designs.
