The D.153.1 armchair, designed in 1953, is part of Gio Ponti’s architectural legacy and the furniture of his residence on via Dezza, Milan. Its structure in satin brass and its upholstery in two-tone leather or ‘Punteggiato’ textile by Rubelli, designed by Ponti in 1934, reflect a contemporary reinterpretation of the velvet technique. This textile stands out for its dynamic speckled patterns in color gradations. The D.153.1 armchair is part of the Gio Ponti Collection, presented at the Salone del Mobile in 2012. Gio Ponti, a renowned master of Italian architecture, is known not only for his architectural work but also for his influence on interior design, with iconic homes that exhibit his distinctive style.
